Petition on Afghanistan War

At the Leadership team meeting of your Colorado EPF chapter this weekend, there was discussion about how people of faith might respond to the escalating war in Afghanistan.  This seemed particularly relevant because the subject of our monthly PeaceFlix was the documentary Osama, which explored the complexities of a young girl living under the cruelty of Taliban oppression of women.

Our Leadership team decided that we would invite as many of you as are moved to do so to sign on to a statement initiated by the National Episcopal Peace Fellowship.  We have included this statement at the end of this article for your review.  If you wish to be included as a signatory to this statement, please respond to our co-convener, the Rev. Bob Davidson, by emailing him at: frbobdav@msn.com.

We will allow for individuals to respond to this invitation no later than FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23rd. At that time we will attach the names of any individuals who have responded and communicate the petition and names to the following:

1.  The National EPF offices in Chicago

2.  The Office of the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Robert O’Neill, Diocese of

Colorado

3.  The Office of the Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev. Catherine Jeffers-Shori

4.  Offices of each member of the Colorado Congressional Delegation, both Senate and House of Representatives.

Thank you for your consideration of this important statement,

Colorado Chapter, Leadership Team, Episcopal Peace Fellowship
