Vigil for Reconciliation and Peace Prior to Consecration of Bishop Elect James Magness

Thank you so much for sending Prayers and for sitting Vigil

The consecration of James (Jay) Magness as Bishop Suffragan of Federal Ministries took place  Saturday, June 19th, 10:00 am at the Washington Cathedral. To watch the service, please click HERE. Our Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori presided.  It is a tradition of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship to join with the Office of the Armed Forces (now Federal Ministries) to conduct a Prayer Vigil beginning with a special Eucharist the day before the consecration  (Friday, June 18th) and continuing until the beginning of the consecration service.

At the invitation of the Bishop, EPF joined with the Community of the Cross of Nails (CCN) to sponsor a Prayer Vigil beginning with a noon Eucharist.  Bishop Elect Magness  and his wife Carolyn, took the first vigil watch after the noon service.

EPF created a Vigil Prayer Book made up of prayers sent in by EPF members, the Community of the Cross of Nails and chaplains engaged with the Office of Federal Ministries.  You can access the book HERE.
