Maryann is excited to be a shepherd for EPF’s Young Adult Delegation to General Convention in 2015. She joined EPF three years ago when she participated in this same program. Since then she has become even more involved with EPF through the young adult retreat and the Urban Pilgrimage. Since January of 2015 she has been working with EPF as the Executive Site Director for Urban Pilgrimage to help sustain existing Urban Pilgrimage sites and build up new leaders to create new sites for the pilgrimages.
Aside from her work with EPF, Maryann is very active in her home church, St. Julian’s of Norwich, which is located in far northwest Austin. She is also an aspirant in the Diocese of Texas. At St. Julian’s she is an active part of the women’s ministry and serves on the Mission and Growth Committee as well as the Adult Education Committee. She also waits tables at a Persian restaurant. She spends her free time volunteering with the Trinity Center, a local non-profit that offers services to neighbors living on the streets.
After graduating from Occidental College with a degree in Politics in 2006, Maryann completed a year of service with the Episcopal Urban Internship Program in Los Angeles. She then moved to France to teach English for a year. Following that she spent a year working with the World Student Christian Federation and the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2012 she spent a year traveling in South America and working with the Institute of Cultural Affairs in Lima, Peru. She moved back to Austin in 2013 to pursue the discernment process.
