More than 40 people participating in a church-to-church peace procession Tuesday evening prayed for tranquillity in the wake of the latest local violence.
Scott Street has been hit hard by it lately, as two of four fatal shootings in the city the past year occurred there, most recently Monday morning.
From the Rev. Robin Baer’s St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church to the Rev. Lauri Kerr’s All Saints Episcopal Church, marchers meditated as they walked three blocks from Memorial Avenue to the westernmost edge of Scott Street.
“All of this is to lift us up and help us heal from the violence and help us go to a place of peace so that violence can be overcome,” Kerr said, also acknowledging an unsolved Sept. 9 homicide of a man shot in the 1400 block of Scott Street.
